Terms of use for Edulom private tutoring in Thailand

Edulom introduces a family to a tutor and then carries everything around the teaching: the match, the timetable, payment, the written report at the end of each block, and a replacement tutor when the pairing turns out wrong. The teaching itself is done by the tutor, who works as an independent professional and not as our employee. Knowing which of us is answerable for what is the point of this page.
These terms govern the use of Edulom in Thailand. Booking a match, attending a session, or paying for a block of sessions means you accept them, so the time to read them is before the first session rather than after a disagreement. Where a clause sets a deadline or a limit, it is written in plain words on purpose: a family should be able to tell from this page alone what happens if a session is missed, if a tutor does not suit, or if lessons stop halfway.
Terms used in this document:
The edulom.com website and every digital service run under the Edulom name, whichever language you read it in.
Anyone who uses the Platform: a learner, the parent or legal guardian who books for that learner, or a tutor.
One-to-one teaching at your address, at an agreed public place, or online, together with the matching, scheduling, and reporting that surround it.
An independent teacher accepted onto the Platform to teach through it. A tutor sets their own approach to a lesson and is not an Edulom employee.
One block of teaching time agreed between family and tutor. Unless the booking says otherwise, a session runs two hours, which is the unit Bangkok families and tutors already work in.
The specific course a learner is actually sitting: an IB DP subject, an IGCSE or Cambridge A-Level paper, a Thailand A-Level code such as 61 or 82, a TGAT or TPAT paper, an O-NET paper, or a school subject inside the national core curriculum. Two learners in the same school year can be on different syllabuses, and the match is made against the syllabus rather than the year.
To use Edulom services, you must:
Legal majority in Thailand is twenty. A learner below that age is booked for by a parent or legal guardian, who opens the account, accepts these terms, and stays the contracting party for the whole arrangement.
Give us information that is true and complete, and correct it when it changes. The school, the year, and the syllabus matter most: a tutor matched against the wrong paper wastes the first sessions finding that out.
Keep your login details to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you until you tell us the account has been taken over.
Use the Platform within the law of Thailand, including the rules that apply to personal data and to work permits for foreign nationals who teach here.
Terms regarding Edulom tutoring services:
You and the tutor fix the times through the Platform, and we hold the record of them. A session can be moved or cancelled at no cost when you tell us at least 24 hours before it starts.
A plan is built around your own term dates, not a generic year. Thai national schools run from mid-May to March with the long break in April, while most international schools in Bangkok open in August and finish in June. Both calendars are normal here, and a study plan written against the wrong one peaks a month after the exam.
A session at your address runs two hours as standard. Online, it can be booked in ninety- or sixty-minute blocks, which is usually the better shape for a ป.1–ป.6 learner whose concentration runs shorter than the drive across town would justify.
At your address, at a public place you and the tutor agree on, or online by video. Tutors are assigned along transit corridors rather than by straight-line distance, because in Bangkok the map lies: the same twelve kilometres take twenty minutes at ten in the morning and over an hour at five in the afternoon.
Identity is checked first, then the subject, then the exact paper the tutor would teach. The last step is the one that matters: an IB Diploma examiner report and an O-NET paper reward completely different habits, and a strong graduate in the subject can still be wrong for the syllabus in front of the learner.
If the pairing does not work, ask for another one and there is no charge for the change. We would rather rematch early than have a family sit through a block of sessions out of politeness.
Teaching starts from a short diagnostic against the syllabus, and each block closes with a written note on what moved, what did not, and what the next block should cover. The report describes work done. It does not predict a grade.
Edulom service payment terms:
Everything is quoted in Thai baht for the whole session. The session is the unit a tutor actually commits to, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. Bangkok rate cards are usually published per hour with a two-hour minimum on a home visit; reading ours, you are looking at one figure for one lesson.
The channels open to you are listed at the point of purchase. Whichever one you use lands in the same record against your account, and a block of sessions opens once the payment has cleared.
A block is paid before it begins. That is what lets a tutor hold the same slot in the week for you rather than sell it twice.
One price covers the whole of Bangkok. We do not bill by the kilometre and we do not bill for the traffic, because the travel time is ours to solve and not yours to absorb. Where an address genuinely cannot be reached by public transport, a small access charge applies and you are told the exact amount before any session is scheduled.
If lessons stop because of something on our side or the tutor's, the unused part of what you paid comes back to you within 30 days. A block already taught is not refundable, and neither is a session you did not attend without notice.
Cancel or move a session at no cost with 24 hours' notice. A block can also be paused for up to 30 days, which matters here more than it sounds: the April break and the October break empty Bangkok, and a paused block should still be waiting when the family comes home.
Prices can change. A change never reaches a block you have already paid for.
As a user, you must:
Treat tutors with respect and professionalism. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated.
For a session at home, set aside a lit, quiet place to work with a table. A condominium common room counts, and so does a dining table with the television off.
When the learner is under eighteen, a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult stays at the address for the whole session. This protects the learner and the tutor equally, and it is not negotiable.
Say early when the school changes the exam timetable, when a subject is dropped, or when the target moves from one route to another. A plan built for a TCAS round is not the plan for an August start at an international school.
Be ready at the agreed time. A tutor who arrives to a locked gate has already spent the travel hour that the price assumes.
Direct transactions with tutors outside the Platform are prohibited. Violations may result in account closure.
Edulom tutors must:
Prepare against the syllabus the learner will sit, using its own past papers and mark scheme. A general lesson in the subject is not the service a family paid for.
Arrive on time, and where the traffic makes that unsafe to promise, say so when the slot is agreed rather than on the day. Repeated lateness ends the assignment.
Keep what you learn about a family to yourself. School reports, diagnostic results, and anything said at the table stay inside the assignment.
Record what was covered and what the learner still cannot do, in language a parent can act on without a teaching background.
Sit through identity checks and qualification checks before the first assignment. A foreign tutor teaching in Thailand is also responsible for holding the immigration and work status that the law requires of them.
Users are prohibited from:
Uploading, sharing, or distributing illegal, offensive, or rights-violating content.
Providing false information, impersonating others, or engaging in fraudulent activities.
Sending spam messages, unsolicited advertisements, or promotional content without permission.
Attempting to access systems, data, or other users' accounts without authorization.
Engaging in harassment, bullying, or inappropriate behavior toward other users.
Intellectual property terms:
All content, logos, designs, and materials on the Platform are owned by Edulom or our licensors.
Materials created by tutors for sessions remain tutor property, with limited license to students for personal use.
Reproduction, distribution, or sale of Platform content without written permission is prohibited.
Feedback or suggestions you provide may be used by Edulom without compensation obligation.
Edulom liability limitations:
Services are provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied.
We do not guarantee a grade, a band, a score, or a place. Nobody selling tuition in Thailand can promise an O-NET result, a TCAS offer, an IB point total, or an IGCSE grade, and a promise like that would be worth less than the paper it is printed on. What we commit to is the teaching, the reporting, and the replacement of a tutor who is not working.
Tutors are independent contractors, not Edulom employees. We are not responsible for actions beyond our control.
Edulom is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Edulom maximum liability is limited to amounts you have paid us in the last 12 months.
Service termination terms:
You may close your account at any time through account settings or by contacting customer service.
We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms without notice.
After account closure, service access is terminated. Data is retained per privacy policy.
Remaining balance will be refunded per refund policy, except for closure due to violations.
Dispute resolution procedures:
Write to the email address at the foot of this page. Most disagreements are about a session that was counted or a tutor who did not suit, and both are settled fastest from the record we already hold.
If that does not settle it, the next step is mediation in Bangkok, with a mediator both sides accept.
Failing mediation, the dispute goes to arbitration seated in Bangkok and conducted in Thai or English as the parties agree.
These terms are governed by the law of Thailand, and the Thai courts have jurisdiction over anything these clauses do not resolve. Nothing here removes a right that Thai consumer protection law gives you.
Information about terms changes:
Edulom reserves the right to change these Terms of Service at any time.
Significant changes will be notified via email or Platform notification.
Continued use of services after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms.
The latest version is always available on this page with update date.
Questions about these terms, and any dispute under clause 11, go to this address. It is read by a person, and a reply comes back in writing so that both sides keep a record.
