Twenty international schools and the Thai national ladder share one small city. So the first question here is rarely the subject. It is which syllabus, which exam board, and which weeks of the year the air is going to take away.

Four steps, and the first one decides the other three.
The subject name alone rarely settles anything in this city. "Maths, Year 11" means IGCSE. "เลข ม.6" means the ทปอ. A-Level applied mathematics paper. "Maths HL" means the IB Diploma. Name the school and the exam and the shortlist narrows before a single tutor is contacted.
A tutor who has carried students through IB Analysis and Approaches is not automatically the right person for a ม.6 student sitting TCAS in Thai. We tell you which of the two that tutor has actually worked in. When nobody on the list fits the exact gate your child is at, you hear that instead of receiving the nearest available person.
The tutor takes one topic the student is stuck on right now and teaches it. You hear how it gets explained, and the tutor finds where the gap actually sits, which is usually two chapters earlier than the homework that prompted the call.
You get a short written note: what was covered, what is still shaky, what to practise before next week. If the fit is wrong, say so early. A different tutor comes in at no charge, which is a better outcome than a term spent hoping it improves.

เมืองเชียงใหม่ — the moat, the university side of town, and the condo blocks behind Nimmanhaemin.
หางดง — south-west of the moat, where several international campuses sit along with the housing that grew up around the school run.
แม่ริม — north of the city, where campuses, boarding places and resort housing share the valley road.
สันทราย และ ดอยสะเก็ด — north-east, newer estates and the Mae Jo side of the valley.
สารภี และ สันกำแพง — south-east and east, along the old Lamphun road and the hot-springs road out of town.

Chiang Mai has British-curriculum schools whose students sit Cambridge International AS and A Level in Year 12 and Year 13, and Thai schools whose ม.6 students sit the ทปอ. A-Level papers, numbered 61 to 89, for TCAS. Two words, two syllabuses, two different tutors. We ask which one before matching anybody, and we write the prefix on everything so a family never books the wrong one.
The burning season runs from January into April and peaks in March. On 4 March 2026 IQAir ranked Chiang Mai third worst in the world, with an AQI above 150. The TCAS70 A-Level papers fall on 13 to 15 March 2570 (2027) and the TGAT and TPAT sittings on 30 January to 1 February. Revision and bad air arrive in the same weeks every single year, so the online weeks belong in the plan made in November, rather than in a cancellation made in March.
The International Schools Database lists twenty international schools in Chiang Mai: eight on a British curriculum, eight American, three offering IB. In a city this size the child two streets away may be sitting a completely different paper from yours, which is also why a tutor recommended over the fence can be excellent for that paper and quite wrong for this one.
Annual fees at the city's international schools start near 118,600 THB and reach about 814,000 THB at Prem Tinsulanonda, against Bangkok fees that pass USD 30,000 a year. That gap is a large part of why remote-working families, and families arriving on a Destination Thailand Visa, keep choosing the north. It also means the tutoring budget here is a real household budget, which is why the per-session figure is settled in writing first and then left alone.
สทศ. still runs the papers at three points on the Thai ladder, ป.6 then ม.3 then ม.6. In ปีการศึกษา 2569 the ม.6 sitting has moved forward to 10–13 January 2570 (2027), earlier than most households plan for; ป.6 follows on 30 January and ม.3 across 1–8 February, the upper two taken on screen. Sitting it at all became a choice back in ปีการศึกษา 2563, and TCAS stopped counting it from TCAS65. So it is a school result. We prepare it as one and describe it as one.
Edulom has taught no students in Chiang Mai yet, so there is no local pass rate to show you and none will be invented for this page. What can be committed to is the method: matched on curriculum, a first session run as a trial in both directions, a written note after each lesson, and a different tutor at no charge when the fit turns out wrong.
A กวดวิชา room in town works, and for a sociable student it can work very well. The difference is arithmetic. A room follows the syllabus most of the room is sitting, which in Chiang Mai is almost always the Thai national one, so a child on IGCSE or the IB Diploma in that room is paying to watch somebody else's exam being taught. One-to-one costs more for each hour, and each of those hours goes on the paper your child will actually open.
